Our Journey

2006 The Beginning

Arun Kumar attended a youth camp as a student in Maharashtra conducted by NNBY(National Network of Buddhist Youth) where Dayamudra is invited to teach English, marking the beginning of their partnership. Both of them regularly participate in youth camps following years. Arun requested a travel allowance from Daymudra to facilitate the travel of students from Kerala to the NNBY conference in the upcoming years.

2007

Dayamudra funded the travel allowance for seven students from Kerala to attend the NNBY conference, coordinated by Arun.

2008

Arun coordinated the participation of nine students from Kerala in the NNBY conference, with travel expenses supported by Dayamudra. Following this event, Arun initiated a proposal for Dayamudra to conduct a spoken English camp directly in Kerala. He argued that establishing a local communicative English program would be more sustainable and impactful than transporting students to Nagpur, Maharashtra, as it would significantly increase the number of beneficiaries served.”

2009

The first 10-day residential Communicative English workshop was successfully held in Kottayam, coordinated by Arun and taught by Dayamudra. Inspired by this success, they have decided to host annual communicative English camps for marginalized students every December. Their long-term vision was to establish a dedicated communicative English institution within the next five years.

2010

They host a second 10-day Communicative English camp with 63 students, including a significant number of girls. It was our short-term goal to conduct a camp with 50 percentage girls’ participation.

2011

We continued the annual Communicative English camp, this year we conducted at Mukhathala in Kollam.
